June: Week 3

This week has been a pretty big week!

June 16th: Willow got her second bath, and she was really good this time. She's such a good girl.

After her bath, she was not a very happy camper...

Willow is unhappy about her bath.

But then she got some turnout time and she was much happier!

Willow running and playing with her friends!

June 17th: Willow got her first set of shots. The vet also advised me to clip her (something I was avoiding like the plague) and so I did. To no surprise, she was very good standing. She squirmed a bit, but I was also alone. Had someone held her, it would have been perfect. Anyway, she even got her legs done (to which she  acted like a big horse, simply picking up her foot because it tickled a bit).

Can you see the joy in her face?

The next few days were the same, grooming and going for walks.  Romping around the field with her friends, just being a silly baby!

June 20th: We went for our first "trail" today.. lol.  When we moved the babies to the neighbors property (after the storm/flood), we trailered them over. Today, since there was only 3 to move, we walked them back home. It was a long walk for these little legs, but they were very good. Willow led the entire time, ears perked most of the time, and marching through the grass.

My brave little girl and a friend leading her.

June: Week 2

June 8th: I was at the barn alone with Willow, and holding her while trying to groom her is not the easiest. (She tries following, and then the rope gets in the way, and yeah. You can imagine.) So I had the idea of "let's tie her and see what happens!" Want to know what happened? NOTHING. She just stood there. No biggie.

June 9th: So with her tying so beautifully the day prior, I decided to try cross tying... And this little girl never ceases to amaze me... She just stood there. She went backwards once, realized she was stuck, walked forward, and stood.

June 11th: "I'm a big girl and I can crosstie and get my feet picked out like a pro!"

Sassy face!

June 15th: Having a shutterbug mommy comes in handy sometimes.. And so does being very photogenic!

"I'm very nosey and half of mommy's pictures look like this!"

June: Week 1

First week of 'summer' and it's already quite something..

June 2nd: A nice nap, her first real bath (to which she was quite good considering), and my grandparents (ages 89 & 91) as well as my dad and stepmom came out to meet baby Willow!

And my grandma with baby:

June 5th: Her ears have totally shedded out.. Her chest and neck are quickly shedding, as is the back of her rump and legs... Yay!

The rest of the week has been WET WET WET. It's been raining nonstop, and Tropical Storm Andrea helped none. We managed to do a little bit, mainly working on being away from the other babies.. As you might imagine, she has a bit of a separation anxiety from the others. Each day gets a little better, she just has to learn she needs to behave regardless of if she's with them or not.

At the end of the week, the rescue got flooded. The storm was bad, and we lost one of the May babies due to lightening. The babies had to be moved to other properties that were dry and with stalls. One of the local channels even came out and did a story! (click here to watch!)

Also, can you guess what type of horse I like? ;) Willow is on the left, and my big girl Starburst is on the right.
